Made in Botswana for livestock owners in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi and Angola. What is available can differ by country, so here is exactly where things stand today.
- Records work in every country. Anyone can sign up. The ten countries above have their districts or provinces built in; elsewhere you type your own region.
- Payment. Plans are charged in US dollars and paid by bank transfer for now. Prices shown in pula, rand, ZiG, kwacha and other currencies are a guide at today’s rate.
- Vets. We are still verifying vets, so no vet network is open yet. VetConnect will open country by country once vets are verified. Are you a vet?
- Not a government system. VaxiTrace is not connected to BAITS or any other official identification, traceability or movement-permit system.
- Made for the cattle post. Works on a basic smartphone, keeps working without signal and sends when you’re back in range.
How billing works
- 1, 3 or 12 months. Pay for a month at a time, or save 10% on 3 months and 20% on 12 months. Renewing early adds the time to your current end date.
- No automatic charges. Nothing renews by itself. We email you 3 days before a paid plan ends.
- Pay by bank transfer. Checkout gives you our bank details and an order number to use as the reference. Your plan switches on once we confirm the payment has arrived. Card and mobile-money payments are not available yet.
- Charged in US dollars ($). Amounts shown in pula, rand and other currencies are a guide at today’s rate, not the amount you are charged. If you pay from another currency, your bank converts it and may charge a transfer or exchange fee.
Changing or ending a plan
- Change plan any time. A different paid plan starts a fresh 30 days when its payment is confirmed (time left on the old plan is not carried over).
- Downgrade any time. Switch to Starter from Plan & add-ons in the app. Nothing is deleted: if you have more animals than the plan allows, you just can’t add more until you are under the limit.
- If a plan ends. Your records become read-only. You can still view, share and export everything, and adding records starts again as soon as you renew.
- Refunds. If an order is refunded, your previous plan is restored. Your records are never deleted.

What is VaxiTrace?
VaxiTrace keeps every vaccination, treatment and other animal-health event for your livestock in one digital record. You record what happened, set follow-up dates and get reminders, and can share an animal’s recorded history with your vet or a buyer. It works on any phone or computer, even without a signal.
How much does VaxiTrace cost?
It is free for up to 20 animals. Paid plans are $7 a month (Small Herd), $17 a month (Growing Herd) and $39 a month (Commercial), in US dollars. Paying for 3 or 12 months saves 10% or 20%, and nothing renews by itself.
Which animals can I record?
Any livestock: cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowl, ostriches, rabbits, donkeys, horses, mules and farmed game. Record them one by one, or a whole flock as one record. On plans, 10 birds or rabbits count as one animal.
Does VaxiTrace work without internet?
Yes. Add it to your home screen like an app. Once it has opened with a connection, you can look up animals and add records with no signal, and your changes send by themselves when you are back online. Nothing needs to be installed from an app store.
Which countries does it work in?
VaxiTrace is built for Southern Africa first: Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi and Angola, with each country’s districts or provinces built in. Farmers in other countries can sign up too and type their own region. Prices are charged in US dollars, with a guide in pula, rand, Namibian dollars, ZiG, kwacha and other currencies.
Who can see my records?
Only you and the people you invite, such as your herder or vet. Private notes, contact details and change history are encrypted on our servers. Buyers see a passport only when you share it, and never your name, phone number or farm.
Can a buyer check an animal’s health history?
Yes, if you share its passport. Each animal has a passport code and QR code. A buyer can check it free on vaxitrace.com without an account and see the vaccinations and treatments recorded for it, which records a vet checked, and any withdrawal period the owner recorded. Buyers should still check veterinary, movement and sale requirements for themselves.
Does it tell me when to vaccinate?
No. You or your vet choose the dates. VaxiTrace reminds you of them. It does not diagnose animals or recommend treatments.
Is it an official document?
No. It is your own record-keeping. It is not an official veterinary certificate or a movement permit, and it is not connected to BAITS or any other government system.
How do I pay?
By bank transfer, in US dollars. You get our bank details at checkout, and your plan switches on once we confirm the payment. Your bank may charge transfer or currency-conversion fees. Nothing renews by itself.
What if my plan ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your records become read-only until you renew, and you can still download everything.
Do you work with associations, co-ops or livestock programmes?
Yes. Associations, co-ops, livestock programmes, vets and farm suppliers can give their members VaxiTrace. It starts with a free 3-month pilot: we give you one join link to share, and at the end you get a summary of how many members joined, how many animals they recorded and how many are up to date. After that, a yearly licence per active member. See the For organisations page.
I got a VaxiTrace link from my association. What does it mean?
Your association, co-op, vet or supplier is paying for your plan. Open the link and sign up, or log in, to get a paid plan at no cost to you until the date shown. They only see totals, never your records. When it ends, you keep everything and can stay on the free plan.
